Czech Republic

My dad and I went to Czech Republic, or Czechoslovakia as it was called back then, by bus from Sweden to go and see Sweden play a hockey game against the Czechs. All the stars like Peter Forsberg and Mats Sundin were in the team and if I remember it right it was because NHL was in a lockout.  The only thing I saw on the way from the border between Germany and Czechoslovakia into the capital of Prague were gnomes and women for sale. I was just a kid back then but I could still figure out that the women who stood by the road were trying to get cars to stop by so they could sell sex. I remember I thought it was weird that one of the women even tried to stop our bus for the same reason, I thought it was way too much people on the bus for her and I felt sorry for the women. When we arrived at our hotel in the outskirts of Prague I took a picture of the view from the hotel window and a picture of my dad in the room. That was about the only pictures I took on the ...

Serbia

I don't know why but I couldn't sleep the night before I went to the airport together with Nils to go to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It was early December and we were met by a gray, dull and gloomy city that still had its marks from the Yugoslav wars during the 90's. We asked for direction to our hotel called Hotel Union and the girl I asked laughed before she pointed out the direction, that's never a good sign. It was supposed to be a 3 star hotel but I would learn from this trip that you should go for the guest reviews instead of the stars. We had separate rooms next to each other and I thought my room smelled a lot of smoke, but as we were just there for 3 days we quickly went out of the hotel and into the streets. Nils had asked the receptionist for a recommendation of what to do and she s...

Andorra

I was stressed out at work and about modern life in general and I thought to myself, where can I go where there’s absolutely nothing to do? I came to think about Andorra being one of the smallest countries in Europe, and it should be the perfect vacation for doing nothing as its known as a hiking and spa resort. I feel small in one of Europes smallest countries When me and my girlfriend Felicia first arrived by bus from Barcelona I was struck by one of the most beautiful sceneries I’ve ever seen. Andorra La Vella which is the capital (as many as 22 000 people live there) is in a valley between endless mountains and we were going to stay at a hotel at one of the higher points in the valley. We had a balcony out to the city, and there was a rooftop pool and a tennis court on the roof as well. In other word it was exactly what I needed. It was freezing cold in the water but I'm a Swede so I'm used to it We started walking the small main street which went strai...
